MOM IS LISTENINg
REPORTING bigotry IS THE FIRST STEP In defeating it
Tell us what happened. Tell us where and when. Don't carry it alone.
It doesn't matter if it seems small. A threatening comment on your social media page, an insult shouted at you when passing by a stranger, a misogynistic joke in the workplace--we are taught that we should let these things slide. It would be impolite to kick up a fuss.
WE ARE READY FOR THE FUSS. LET US KNOW.
When we normalize this behavior, we set ourselves up to be victims again and again. If it made you feel small, afraid, unwelcome, then don't write it off as nothing. Tell us as much or as little as you want. You can write a paragraph or you can write a novella, you can swear or you can write with your best SAT grammar, write in the first person or put the whole thing down in the third as if it happened to a character in a book. However you want to tell us, we're listening.
